Anxiety, depression, trauma, and low self-worth can all cause overwhelming pain. It can feel as though our negative emotions get in the way of a healthy, meaningful life. Often, we have mistaken beliefs about ourselves and our world which have developed in the face of difficult life circumstances.
In our sessions, we will work together to deeply understand the origins of distress and problematic symptoms. This includes examining negative belief systems and maladaptive coping skills. Using this insight, we can work to replace these negative belief systems with more realistic and positive beliefs and cultivate self-compassion.
We will also strive to develop healthy coping skills and identify ways to implement self-care. Although therapy is difficult work, and at times can produce negative feelings, it is a powerful way to reconnect with inner strengths and resilience. During the course of therapy, it is important to schedule time for yourself between sessions to reflect and implement the skills you are learning.
One of the most important aspects of effective therapy is the relationship between client and therapist. In the event that I am not the right fit for you, I will help connect you to another therapist from my referral network. Please contact me for a free phone consultation so that we can determine if I might be a good fit for you.
In most cases, weekly therapy is recommended, particularly at the start. I take appointments during the day and evening, as well as Saturdays, and will do my best to accommodate your schedule. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, 24 hour notice is appreciated.
